In short, it simply gives CCP the option of deciding which direction to move EVEÆs Prime Fiction at the end of the arc or to allow unfolding events to determine what is to follow. The claims of CCP rigging events to benefit a player, corporation or alliance are groundless.
So, you(royal) leave an option for the company to direct the event in the prime fiction in the direction you want, just in case. In case of what, it does not go the way you want? In case there were not enough players to alter the story line? Anyway you cut it, unless merely poorly worded, states that CCP has the ability to make story arcs static. At best, saying this is an open-ended, player-driven game, is false advertising. In regards the corruption, bob scandal, maybe, maybe not true. Know this, everyone of us is human and therefore fallible. If a player group has personal friends in the company running this game universe, thats normal. However, chatting and fraternizing with them while at work or otherwise in a position to compromise the balance of the game world one way or the other is simply outrageous. AS mentioned before, humans are fallible, its in our nature. We are even more so when it comes to helping friends since we are willing to risk more to help them. CCP has been great at fostering company-player relationships which is great, but one must realize the inherent dangers of this type of behavior and take steps to moderate/prohibit these dangers. Moreover, from what I have been reading, the replies from CCP have been vague, non-descript, and evasive. Whether anything bad has occurred or not, this is hurting you more than the "supposed" allegations. Get mad, get fired up and put the kabash on this whole travesty. The longer this goes the more damage it will do to you, and your game. This behavior implies your hiding something, or at the very least trying to keep your players in the dark on "something". Get your players (the whole community) involved in this. Yes, it could be a nightmare, but isn't losing your game and creation worse? God forbid that there have been EULA violations on CCPs part (since we pay for the service, the contract is binding to you as well to uphold it). I jumped late on this bandwagon that is going out of control. For god's sake, fix this, address the issues, and listen to your public since they make your game and jobs possible.
A gm's job is partly to keep the players in the dark. What the gm says goes. If you can't accept that, get a bloody helmet.
